MOVEMENT – TOWARDS BETTER HEALTH
Movement is an important part of physiotherapists’ core competencies and interventions. As life styles change, so do levels of physical activity. As a result, diseases related to a lack of activity are increasing and this is again often related to differences in social status. In this context, movement becomes a key aspect of health promotion, treatment and rehabilitation as recommended by health authorities and in specific physiotherapy intervention.
The concept of movement and activity has changed fundamentally in recent years with respect to treatment and rehabilitation. For instance, inactivity was previously advocated for back problems and heart disease; nowadays patients are encouraged to become mobile at a very early stage of rehabilitation and they are recommended to keep active.
The Congress will enhance an understanding of activity and movement and its positive effects. The strengths and challenges physiotherapy practice and research meet, will be addressed:
MOVEMENT – new perspectives to an old paradigm
MOVEMENT – as a physiotherapy intervention
MOVEMENT – professional and ethical issues
