Welcome and Introduction to the
Conference
The International Workshop on
Statistical Modelling will celebrate its 25th Anniversary in Glasgow in
2010. The conference will be hosted by the Department of Statistics at
the University of Glasgow from 5-9th July 2010, with a short course on
4th July 2010.
Statistical modelling is an essential
element in many scientific
disciplines and thus the conference encourages papers in this general
area that are both
motivated by real life data and make novel contributions to
Statistics.
The aim of the conference is to bring
together a wide variety of
international researchers (from career-young to internationally
renowned) to encourage discussion and interchange between junior and
senior scientists. This is the first time that this conference will be
hosted in Scotland. It is an outstanding opportunity for the Statistics
Department at Glasgow, allowing us to promote both the City of
Glasgow and Statistics in Scotland, and to offer an exciting and
stimulating conference to celebrate this 25th Anniversary.
